Lámh Research Bursary presentation at Brothers of Charity, Cork
Lámh Board Member Lorna Barrett (pictured right) presented a bursary cheque to Jenna Pyne of COPE Foundation's team of 'Lámh Scholars' who are carrying out research about Lámh in 2016, on Friday last.
Jenna was attending a QQI Level 5 'Using Lámh in a Total Communication Approach Course' at Brothers of Charity, Cork, delivered by Lámh Tutors Lorna Barrett, Jane le Blanc and Keira O'Mahony.
Earlier this year, following a rigorous application process, the Lámh Research & Development Sub-committee awarded the Lámh Small Research Grants funding of €4,000 to be shared by 2 projects: St. Angela's Sligo and COPE Foundation, Cork.
St. Angela's project is looking at families experiences of using and learning Lámh, while the COPE team are looking at Lámh sign use and training for staff members who are supporting Lámh users of all ages.
Best of luck to the Lámh Scholars and we look forward to outcomes of the research which will inform ongoing development of supports for Lámh users, families and other communication partners.
